Fortunately there is an easy workaround if you have the Visual Studio 2017 templates. Without these MonoGame templates, you will be unable to start a new MonoGame project. I also learnt from the 5th link that apparently I don't have the MonoGame template projects for things like "Empty Content Project" either.ĮDIT 3: I've also followed the advice here, yet again to no avail (what a surprise!). MonoGame will now be installed on your computer, but the installer does not include templates for Visual Studio 2019. There should be templates in the list there labelled "SpriteFont" and other miscellaneous MonoGame related templates.ĮDIT: For the record, I have already tried following the advice given here, here, here, here, here and here. To clarify, I have all the project templates that come with MonoGame: I've installed every last MonoGame related thing I can find on the internet and NOTHING has solved my problem. that pop up in the templates menu when you click "Add New Item" in the solution menu. These include things like "SpriteFont", etc. To use Visual Studio 2017 on its own, use the current Development release of MonoGame until a point release is submitted. A fix has already been delivered but it was after the MonoGame 3.6 release. I've been looking around forever, and I can't seem to find a way to install the MonoGame C# Templates for Visual Studio 2013 Express. However, when Visual Studio 2017 was install on its own or on a clean machine, the templates would simply not work.
